An admirable feature of the PokerStars download is that they try to target every market possible. The folks in charge recently decided that not nearly enough women frequent their room, and now they are working to correct that. The PokerStars site now has a special section called “PokerStars Women”, and it encourages women to use a PokerStars bonus code and learn to play. If you are female, you have the chance to play in an exclusive PokerStars Women’s Poker League.
This download free poker room has split the league into two divisions: USD and EUR. Everyone is welcome to play in either division. The only differences between the two divisions are that the Euro tournaments are played much earlier in the day, and they are played in Euros rather than dollars. Since many of the league’s participants will be those new to money poker sites, the entry costs for this league are very low. It is 5.50 to play a league tournament every day except for the special 55.00 Sunday event.
Aside from the prize pool, you will be competing for points on the leaderboard. Placing in the money will earn 5 points, and making the final table will earn anywhere from 10 to 20 points (depending on where you place). You even earn a point just for playing the event, so you don’t have to feel like you’re at a huge disadvantage if you don’t have a lot of experience on US poker sites. If you want to make a run for the top of the leaderboard, you will need to play as many tournaments as possible.
Every month the leaderboard is reset, with cash prizes for the previous months’ winners. Players win a sum of money for placing in the top 50, with the highest ranking players winning the most. The USD winner receives 300 USD and the EUR winner receives 200 EUR. This extra cash will give women more money to practice their game on free download or poker flash sites.
You’ll be most interested in the yearly leaderboard, though. Even more cash is handed out to the top 50 winners, but none of the prizes come even close to the top prize. 1st place receives $1,500 (or 1,000 EUR) and a Ladies Luxury Event package! This package will include a tournament ticket for a major live event, as well as accommodations and travel expenses. I am sure that plenty more women would want to download free poker if they knew this prize were up for grabs!
